There are three levels of sandstorm warning signals: yellow, orange and red.
Sandstorm yellow warning signal

Criteria: sandstorm may occur within 12 hours (the visibility is less than 1000 meters), or it has already occurred and may continue.
Defense guidelines:
1.The government and relevant departments shall do a good job in sandstorm prevention according to their duties;
2.Close the doors and windows, reinforce structures that are vulnerable to the wind, such as frames, scaffolding and billboards. Properly settle outdoor objects that are easily affected by the wind, cover construction materials, and properly seal the precision instruments;
3.Wear respirators, gauze scarves and other anti-dust articles to avoid possible damage to eyes and respiratory tract;
4.Patients with respiratory diseases and those who are sensitive to wind and sand should not take outdoor activities.
Sandstorm orange warning signal

Criteria: sandstorm may occur within six hours (the visibility is less than 500 meters), or it has already occurred and may continue.
Defense guidelines:
1.The government and relevant departments shall do a good job in emergency work of sandstorm prevention according to their duties;
2.Stop outdoor activities and dangerous outdoor operations at high altitude and water etc;
3.Airports, railways, highways and other units shall take protective measures to the transportation. Drivers shall drive carefully and pay attention to the change of sandstorm;
4.Pedestrians should try to ride bicycles as little as possible, and outdoor personnel should wear respirators, gauze scarves and other anti-dust articles, and pay attention to the traffic.
Sandstorm red warning signal

Criteria: sandstorm may occur within six hours (the visibility is less than 50 meters), or it has already occurred and may continue.
Defense guidelines:
1.The government and relevant departments shall do a good job in sandstorm emergency and rescue according to their duties;
2.Personnel should stay in places against wind and dust and should not be outdoors;
3.Schools and kindergartens should delay the start or end of school until the end of extra-strong sandstorms;
4.Suspend the planes,stop the trains, and close the highways temporarily.
