The Guanyinge reservoir is a key project during "the 7th five-year plan" and "the 8th five year-plan", and it is conducted by both China and Japan using RCC technology.
The Guanyinge reservoir is located in the basin of Taizi River mainstream, 40km away from Benxi city , with an area of 2795 square kilometres under dam control and with a capacity of 2.68 billion cubic metres. The Guanyinge reservoir is a large scale water conservancy project mainly for industrial water supply, flood control, power generation, irrigation, aquaculture and other benefits.
The dam hub of Guanyinge reservoir is composed of water retaining section, overflow dam section and power station dam section. The dam block is a roller compacted concrete gravity dam.The dam crest length is 1040m and the width is 10m. The dam is divided into 65 sections, with the maximum dam height of 82m. There are 12 overflow holes in the spillway section, each with the net width of 1.2 m, three diversion pipes with the diameter of 2.2 m and the spacing of 8 m in the dam section of the power station. The power plant is located behind the dam. The size of the main workshop is 36.74m×12.12m.
Guanyinge dam applies roller compacted concrete (RCD) dam construction technology, with dam section in the form of "gold and silver" .There are 3m upstream of the impermeable layer, 2.5m layer and 2m based downstream using normal concrete, with the corridor around using thick reinforced concrete. The rest contains 30% fly ash low RCC.
Project preliminary design estimates a total investment of 1 billion and 593 million yuan (l989).After adjustment, the total investment reaches 2 billion and 250 million yuan,including the Japanese Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF) loans 182.25 billion yen,with a total duration of 6 years. The completion of the reservoir can make the basin flood control standard be greatly improved (in Benxi city, the fifty year return period floods are replaced by the the fifty year return period floods floods,in Liaoyang city, the the ten year return period floods are replaced by the five hundred year return period floods;and it also changes the flood control standard ), it successfully retains Liaoning province "95.7" flood during construction, and it helps to prevent a loss of 860 million yuan from the downstream area. The reservoir has an average annual water regulation of 947 million cubic metres, combined with Shenwo reservoir increasing supply of 11.73 billion cubic metres, leading to Benxi, Liaoyang, Anshan and Yingkou water shortages can be alleviated; improving the saline paddy field of 26 thousand and 700 square hectometer and an area of 20 thousand and 750 kw been installed with dynamos. With the using of water aquaculture tech, the reservoir can provide commercial fish of 710 thousand kg annually to the community.
