The team of Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service (DRR) attended the meeting of the 1st session of the second governing board and advisory committee of the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology under the Auspices of UNESCO (IKCEST) on October 25, 2018. As the technical leader of DRR, Professor Juanle Wang, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academic of Sciences (IGSNRR, CAS) gave the report on the progress of DRR, which focused on the Disaster metadata standard, disaster scientific database, disaster information network mining research and development and practice, online knowledge service application, domestic and international expert networks, disaster risk reduction user services and recent work plan, etc., and followed by the introduction of the International Training Workshop on Resource & Environment Scientific Data Sharing and Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service for “the Belt and Road” and the 2nd international workshop on disaster risk reduction knowledge service held in October this year. Kun Bu, a senior engineer, gave an online demonstration of DRR (http://drr.ikcest.org).
The experts shared their guidance and suggestions on user groups, data scopes, practice cases, data security and so on. The team of DRR will absorb the results of this meeting, further enhance the knowledge service ability of disaster prevention and reduction, and continuously improve IKCEST's contribution and influence in the field of disaster prevention and mitigation.
