Dahuofang reservoir is one of the key construction projects in the first five-year plan after the establishment of People's Republic of China. It is a large earth dam project in Northeast China. Its total storage capacity is 21.87 billion cubic meters.
The reservoir is located in the upper reaches of the river in Zhangdang Town，Fushun city of Liaoning province , with utilities of flood control, irrigation, power generation, taking into account the city water, large water conservancy project of comprehensive utilization of fish.
Dahuofang reservoir, with an area of 5347 square kilometers, accounts for 46.6% of the total area of 11481 square kilometers. The reservoir engineering design was undertaken by the Design Department of the Reservoir Engineering Bureau,and the hydroelectric (power) station was designed by Beijing Hydropower Design Institute.
Shenwo Reservoir is located in the area of Gongchangling District, Liaoyang City of Liaoning Province. The upstream of dam site is 42 kilometers away from Benxi City. The downstream is 45 kilometers away from Liaoyang city. The total storage capacity of Shenwo reservoir is 7.91 billion cubic meters. The project is designed by Liaoshui Institute and part of the power station is designed by Northeast Institute. The dam type is the concrete gravity dam. Spillway type is practical section overflow Weir, hydropower station is dam rear type.
