The online map of the affected areas in August 2013 in China is sourced from the China Natural Disaster Atlas in 2013 and was published by China Map Publishing House in February 2015. The authors are the Office of the National Disaster Reduction Commission, the Disaster Relief Department of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and the National Disaster Reduction Center of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The scale of this map is 1:22000000.

Characteristics of disasters in August

1.The Northeast region has experienced the most severe flood disaster in recent years.

2.South China is frequently hit by typhoons.

3.The earthquake disaster window loss in the Liangnan region is relatively heavy.

4.Continuous high temperature and drought have caused disasters in many southern regions.

5.Heavy losses from wind and hail disasters, and heavy occurrence of forestry and biological disasters.

Affected areas in August

The brown diamond in the figure represents the affected area of drought disasters.

The green circle in the figure represents the affected areas of floods and geological disasters.

The blue triangle in the figure represents the affected area of wind and hail disasters.

The pink diamond in the figure represents the affected area of earthquake disasters.

The purple triangle in the figure represents the areas affected by low-temperature freezing and snow disasters.

Note:

Information on forest fires, marine disasters, and biological disasters is currently lacking, while information on Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau is currently lacking.
