Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service Sub-center has taken part in the first work meeting in 2018 at the Beijing Conference Center which was held by China Knowledge Center for Engineering Sciences and Technology on March 22, 2018. Academician Pan Yunhe and vice president Chen Zuoning attended the meeting and listened to the report. IKCEST’s executive deputy director, Mr. Song Dexiong moderated the meeting.
Professor Wang Juanle, executive and technical leader of Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service Sub-Center, as the representative of IKCEST made a reported. First, he introduced the position and mission of Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service Sub-center. And then, he summarized the progress in 2017 and the periodical success of Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service Sub-center. Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service System have accomplished more than 2300 disaster datasets or events, including disaster science database, disaster expert database, disaster organization database, disaster event database, open classified catalogue database, etc. Also Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service System have developed 8 online knowledge service applications and thematic knowledge services, which have steadily increased of user visits with more than 10000 visitors a month on average and a quarter of them are international users. Finally, Professor Wang Juanle introduced the work plan of DRR in 2018. DRR team will comprehensively upgrade the Disaster Risk Reduction knowledge service system (http://drr.ikcest.org) and focus on the construction of the global disaster metadata database and typical cases of disaster risk reduction of China and international experience.
The leadership of the Chinese Academy of Engineering has given full recognition and high expectation for future development to Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service Sub-center.
