There was an extraordinary rainstorm in the east of Liaoning province and the south part of Jinlin province in August, 1888. (July in 14th year in Guangxu) The center of this storm was located in the downstream of Yalu River. There was an extraordinary rainstorm in the downstream of Yalu River, Dayang River, Hun River, Taizi River and Huifa River.
According to the historical documents and the survey data of flood, the rainstorm was took place between 7th and 19th, August. (Between the end of June and 12th in July in 14th, Guangxu) The rainstorm was made up by three parts, the rainfall in 7-9th, 12-14th and 16-18th. The rainstorm lasted for 13 days. We estimated that the discharges of the former two rainfalls are relatively large by analyzing the appearing time of the peak and peak value. Some places already rained several days before the extraordinary rainstorm.
This storm covered a large area between 1210-1260 E, 390-430 N except the upper stream of Liao River, and the area of the rainfall covered 110000 square kilometers which even bigger then the area of the extraordinary rainstorm in August, 1960.
