From November 20 to 22, 2020, IKCEST Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service visited Sichuan University-The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR) in Chengdu. During the visit, Professor Wang Juanle introduced the Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service of IKCEST, discussed how to strengthen the future cooperation and exchange between the two sides, and participated in the "International Disaster Reduction and Emergency Management Innovation Class" organized by IDMR.
At the invitation of Gretchen kalonji, Dean of Sichuan University-The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR), Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service of IKCEST(IKCEST-DRRKS) visited IDMR from November 20 to 22, 2020. During the visit, Professor Wang Juanle, the executive leader of IKCEST-DRRKS, discussed how to strengthen the future cooperation and exchange between the two sides, and participated in the "International Disaster Reduction and Emergency Management Innovation Class" organized by IDMR.
On the afternoon of November 20, Professor Wang made a report on the progress of IKCEST-DRRKS, which mainly focused on disaster metadata standards, disaster scientific database, online knowledge service application, domestic and foreign expert database and other DRR work contents and achievements. After the report, Professor Wang discussed with IDMR president Gretchen Kalonji, Party branch secretary Chen Yong, vice president Di Baofeng, and vice president Li Rui on the future cooperation prospects and directions between IDMR and IKCEST.
On the afternoon of November 21, Professor Wang Juanle and his team participated in the "International Disaster Reduction and Emergency Management Innovation Class" organized by IDMR and gave lectures to the students of the innovation class. Professor Wang made a presentation titled “Mapping International Research and Education in DRR”, including A Biliometric Analysis on UNESCO Development Trends in Scientific Research, Institution Mapping for Disaster Risk Reduction, Geospatial Mapping for Resources, Environment, Disaster in B&R and Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service. Han Xuehua, a doctoral student and Zheng Li, a master student, also introduced their research work, including “Using Social Media to Analyze the Public Response to COVID-19” and “Mapping of epidemic in Belt and Road”. After that, teachers and students had friendly interaction and exchange.
