Seminar on disaster risk reduction knowledge service

The seminar on Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service was held in Xijiao Hotel on October 30, 2019, Beijing. Liu Chang, Deputy director of Project Management Office, China Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology, Fang Ying, from Chinese Academy of Engineering Center for Strategic Studies, Prof. Chen Xiaoqing, deputy director of Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Prof. Wen Qi, from National Disaster Reduction Center, Ministry of emergency management, Prof. Yang Saini, Institute of disaster reduction and emergency management, Beijing Normal University, Prof. Tang Hong, department of geography science, Beijing Normal University, Prof. Li Guoqing, Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, CAS, Hong Tianhua, executive director of China-Pakistan Joint Research Centre on Earth Sciences, Prof. Wang Juanle, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS, Senior engineer Bu Kun, Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, CAS, Associate professor Yang Fei, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS, and members of DRR team attended the meeting.

Professor Wang Juanle, executive director of the Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service System, made a report on the DRR systematically, including research background and construction demand, research objectives and technical ways, disaster metadata standards, scientific data resources, knowledge service applications, international seminars, international training, precise push, followed by the problems and countermeasures. Then, Liu Chang gave a brief introduction of International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology under the Auspices of UNESCO.

The experts affirmed the work of the Disaster Risk Reduction knowledge Service team and had a heated discussion and in-depth exchanges on data, service and future planning of the DRR. This seminar provided guidance for the next construction and future planning of disaster prevention and mitigation.
