General situation of earthquake disasters
In 2014, a total of 3.106 million people were affected by the earthquake disaster in 12 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government), 624 people died, 112 people were missing, 659000 people were urgently transferred for resettlement, and 357000 people needed emergency living assistance; 115000 houses collapsed and 1.371000 houses were damaged to varying degrees; direct economic loss was 40.8 billion yuan.
In 2014, the main characteristics of earthquake disasters are as follows:
1.Strong earthquakes occur frequently in Western China, and Ludian earthquake has caused serious losses
In 2014, 22 earthquakes with M ≥ 5 and 5 earthquakes with M ≥ 6 occurred in China's mainland, mainly in the western region, including the Yutian M 7.3 earthquake on February 12, the Yingjiang M 6.1 earthquake in Yunnan on May 30, the Ludian M 6.5 earthquake in Ludian, Yunnan on August 3, Jinggu M 6.6 earthquake in Jinggu, Yunnan on October 7, and Kangding M 6.3 earthquake on November 22.
Among them, Ludian M 6.5 earthquake in Yunnan Province, is the most serious earthquake in Ludian area since historical records. 617 people died and 112 people were missing. A large number of urban and rural houses were damaged. Infrastructure such as transportation, communication and public service facilities such as schools and medical and health institutions were seriously damaged. The direct economic loss was 201 400 million yuan.
2.The damage caused by the sensed earthquake in central and eastern China is relatively prominent in Zhejiang Province
In 2014, there was no earthquake of magnitude 5 or above in the central and eastern regions, but the sensible earthquakes in North China and southeast coastal areas were relatively active, causing disasters to different degrees in Hebei, Jilin, Zhejiang, Anhui, Shandong, Hubei and other provinces. The disaster situation was more severe than in recent years, with Zhejiang being the most prominent. From the middle of September to the end of October, Wencheng and Taishun counties in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, experienced 20 earthquakes with a magnitude of 3.0-4.2, causing 137000 people suffering from the disaster, 47000 people being transferred and resettled urgently, more than 9000 buildings were seriously damaged, and 99000 buildings were generally damaged, with a direct economic loss of nearly 630 million yuan.
