Background: Frequent disasters have been a serious threat to human life and social development. Disaster risk reduction has become an urgent issue today. It is imperative to build the global disaster database, and the reasonable and effective metadata standard or the best practice is the premise for disaster database construction. Therefore, UNESCO DRR Section has sent official letter to IKCEST, suggesting areas for future cooperation with IKCEST on global disaster risk reduction. In order to advance the cooperation, IKCEST would host the First International Workshop for Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service, inviting domestic and international experts in disaster risk reduction related fields, to discuss how to build disaster metadata standards or best practices to facilitate the integration and application of disaster information.
