China is one of the countries with the most severe disasters in the world, and it is also one of the countries with the longest and richest records of disasters. Various documents including maps have records of historical disasters in China. Therefore, it is necessary to collect historical disaster maps scattered in various documents to provide services for public.
All these maps updated in this application can be divided into four categories, including ecological maps, environmental maps, natural disaster maps, disease and medical maps. The service interface of online map resources is generated by MapServer following international web service interface standards. Multi-types China historical disaster maps are released as WebGIS service. All the maps have been geometric correction and can be overlaid with each other. MapServer and LeafletJS technologies are used to support the visualization function.
When the online map is clicked, the detailed information of map will be displayed, containing the title, category, and the content of the map. User can zoom in or zoom out the map. When user click anywhere on the map, longitude and latitude information can be displayed. What’s more, on the right side of the page, user can choose one map under any classification or two maps under different classifications, which can be overlaid.
