Prof. Wang Juanle, project technical director of the IKCEST Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service (shortened as "DRR"), reported to Song Dexiong, Executive Deputy Director of IKCEST on the year - end review of 2017 and plan for 2018 of DRR on January 25th, 2018. Liu Chang, Director of Division of International Cooperation, IKCEST and others from IKCEST and DRR joined the meeting.
First, Prof. Wang Juanle reviewed the First International Workshop for Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service and summarized the outcomes of the workshop, put forward the corresponding solutions aiming at the expert opinions, then he reported the progress of DRR in 2017 and the work plan of 2018.
The director Song gave full recognition of DRR's progress in team construction, yearly work, and international cooperation in recent stage. He emphasized the application of metadata standards in practice, to attract and increase the user community, to enhance the scale, level and influence of the second international workshop. The director Liu Chang discussed some concrete issues with DRR team later, including gap between the existing metadata best practice and the national standard, the difference between thematic knowledge service and knowledge application, the data quality control experience sharing, etc. Finally, Prof. Wang and the director Liu exchanged views on draft agenda of next visit to the UNESCO headquarter.
