Qinghe Reservoir is located in the territory of Kaiyuan County , Liaoning province. The Qinghe bridge is 12 kilometers away, in the middle of Liaohe River area. The left tributary Qinghe dam site with an area of 2376 square kilometers, accounting for 42.2% of the total area of Qinghe River, is a comprehensive utilization of large water conservancy ,including flood control,as well as irrigation, power generation and seasonal fish forestry . It is a controlling projectin Qinghe basin, with a total capacity of 9.71 cubic meters.
Qinghe Reservoir Engineering Bureau of Liaoning province is responsible for the construction of Qinghe reservoir.Construction started in May 1958, dams joint in April 1959, blocked flood in July, completed in June 1960, and completed the construction of the spillway project after the reservoir was put into operation. The project was completed in September 1966.
Qinghe Reservoir has many comprehensive utilities, such as flood control, irrigation, supply of industrial water and fish raising.
