Cyclone Tauktae Kills at Least 200 in India
Before Cyclone Tauktae reached the Indian coastal state of Gujarat on May.1, the storm had already killed six people and added at least 109 others to its toll after landfall, according to the Indian Express. However, later reports found that Tauktae had wrought further destruction in the Arabian Sea, where an additional 86 people who were aboard a tugboat and barge drowned.

Torrential rain fell across Nepal and the Indian states of Kerala and Uttarakhand during the week of Oct. 18, bringing with it significant flooding and landslides and claiming the lives of 201 people, according to CNN.
Floods, Landslides in China Kill at Least 302
Torrential rain fell, and waters swept through China’s Henan province, triggering floods and landslides that took the lives of at least 302 people on July 20, according to BBC News. Additionally, thousands of homes were damaged, the bulk of which were in the provincial capital of Zhengzhou.
Super Typhoon Rai Kills 375 in the Philippines
A typhoon slammed into the Philippines on Dec. 16, displacing hundreds of thousands of people, killing at least 375 and injuring 500 more, according to BBC News. With winds as high as 195 kph (120 mph), the damage wrought has been devastating, with many buildings unsalvageable. On average, the country experiences 20 storms each year.
