The online map of water resources distribution in China's river basins is derived from the atlas of China National Geographic Map, prepared by the Editorial Committee of the China National Geographic Map, and published by China Encyclopedia Press in November 2011.The scale of the map is 1:60000000, and the total distribution of water resources in all regions of the country can be seen in the map.
The average surface water resources in China for many years is 2,711.8 billion cubic meters, and the amount of groundwater resources is 828.8 billion cubic meters. After deducting the repeated amounts, the total water resources is 2,821.4 billion cubic meters. The total amount of resources is rich, but due to the large number of people, the per capita possession is very small, only 1/4 of the world's per capita value.
China's water resources are unevenly distributed in regions, with more south to north and less east to west, decreasing from southeast to northwest. The water resources of the Yangtze River and its southern regions account for about 4/5, and the vast northern region only accounts for 1/5 of the total water resources.
