Abstract:
According to the Web of Science, the world’s largest academic database, the number of jointly published papers between Chinese and Pakistani scholars in 2021 reached over 8,000 articles, a 13-fold increase from the 626 published in 2013 when China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was launched. This shows that the bilateral cooperation between China and Pakistan on sciences and technologies has been developed in a very rapid way over the past years. It covers many areas of sciences and technologies, especially Earth sciences and materials, engineering/electrical, and computer sciences.
China-Pakistan Joint Research Centre on Earth Sciences (CPJRC) is a joint project launched by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan which addresses geological research, climate change and its impact on Environment, natural hazards and disaster reduction, natural resources and green development. It also makes efforts in capacity building by providing opportunities for Pakistani students to study in China for academic degrees, and organizing short-term training workshops for young scientists in Pakistan and other neighboring countries on various subjects. It will play a key role in promoting further academic exchange between the scientists of both China, Pakistan and other neighboring developing countries.
