Turkey's religious atmosphere is relatively relaxed, which is different from other Islamic countries in West Asia. There is no special taboo in terms of handshake between men and women and drinking alcohol, but pork is forbidden. Turkey has a diverse and open social atmosphere. Due to its geographical location, historical origin and application for EU membership, the locals are accustomed to regard themselves as European rather than Asian. Clothing is also a mixture of Western clothing and Islamic traditional clothing. Most people, especially those with higher education and young people, wear western clothing, and most women do not wear headscarves or burqas.
