IKCEST: Delegation of Chinese Academy of Engineering to Visit University of Technology Sydney

The delegation, led by Professor Xu Liu, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, met with Prof. Ian Burnett, Dean of the School of Engineering and Information Technology on February 3 to learn about UTS 'knowledge approach in data and analysis. Their interviews included discussions with the Center for Quantum Computing and Intelligent Systems (QCIS)and the Advanced Analysis Institute (AAi). Professor Liu introduced the progress of the work of the International Center for Engineering Science and Technology Knowledge (IKCEST),under the auspices of UNESCO(United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). The purpose of the mission was to explore the potential of the Institute to work with UTS.

IKCEST's mission is to establish a public data service platform, to develop the technology for mining and analyzing knowledge from big data,and to foster interdisciplinary engineering talents with big data processing ability. At the same time, it is building resources in various vertical industries to help promote capacity-building for developing countries. Prof Liu has expressed great interest in AAi's RED business model and its market-driven approach,and was inspired by AAi's level of industry engagement.He encouraged AAi and its associates to consider IKCEST as a platform for collaboration with developing countries in the areas of big data and data analytics.
