Since mid-January 2008, most areas in southern China have suffered from snow and ice and freezing disasters, and a large number of vehicles have been stranded on roads and many counties and cities have suffered long-term power outages. When the people in many disaster-stricken areas fell out of isolation, their only way to obtain information was radio programs.
