A scale is the ratio of the length of a segment on the graph and the actual length of the corresponding segment of the ground. The scale has three representations: a numerical scale,an icon scale, and a literal scale. In general, large-scale maps, detailed, high-precision geometry can be used for measurement on the large scale map, but in small-scale map, the content is too general and strongto measure on the map.
