The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) set up its International Knowledge Center for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST) in Beijing on Monday.
The center will serve as a globally connected hub for assembling digital resources related to engineering sciences and technology, building a public data service platform, providing consultation and assisting scientific research and education for policy-makers and engineers, especially those from developing countries, said Pan Yunhe, deputy president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).
The agreement for establishing the IKCEST was signed by CAE president Zhou Ji and Irina Bokova, director general of the UNESCO.
