The north and northwest of the mountains as well as its eastern Da Hinggan Mountains、Xiao Hinggan Mountains and Changbai Mountains, have the heavy forest covering. They are famous forestry bases of China, whose occupation reaches 37.33 million hectares with renown of Hometown of Pinus Koraiensis and an Immense Forest. Eastern of the mountain spread some types of plans, which include Korean pine, fir, maple, birch and some other broad-leaved pine forest under the flora of Changbai Mountains. Da Hinggan Mountains have Da Li Li flora, containing Larix gmelinli, Mongolian pine forest and very few other type of trees. Western Hulun Buir belongs to Mongolia flora, where needle grass, hidden grass and some other weeds are developing. West of this region plus north and south sides of Da Hinggan Mountains has massive meadow reached up 26670000 square kilometers. As for Qilaotu Mountain and Nuluerhu Hill, located in mountainous area of western Liaoning, they are mostly barren hills or moorlands suffered severe wind-sand disaster asinmuch as the low forest coverage, the serious soil erosion and the frail ecologial condition.
