According to the research of the National Economic and Trade Commission Disaster Integrated Research Group, we analyzed the catastrophe risk which our country is facing as follows:
The distribution of high risk areas
The high risk areas are distributed in the east area of our country where the catastrophe occurs frequently and the density of town and population are high.
- Qiqihar-Daqing-Harbin area in the basin of Nengjing River and Songhua River: the main catastrophe is flooding.
- Kaiyuan-Shenyang-Panjin-Yingkow area in the lower reaches of Liao River: the main catastrophes are flooding and second earthquake.
- Beijing- Tianjin-Tangshan area (Beijing, Tianjin as the center, including Tangshan, Langfang and Cangzhou): the main catastrophes are earthquake and flooding then drought.
- The lower course area of Yellow River (Zhengzhou-Kaifeng-Heze-Jining-Bingzhou-Dongying as the center): the catastrophe is flooding.
- The area of Huaihe, the lower reaches of Yangzi River and Hangjiahu (the center of this area is Yangtze River delta, including the north of Anhui Province and Jiangsu Province, Hangzhou, Jiaxing and Huzhou): the main catastrophes are flooding and then typhoon, storm surge and earthquake.
- Jianghan plain and the plain of Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake（the centers of Jianghan plain are Wuhan and Jingsha, the centers of Dongting and Poyang Plain are Jin City, Changde, Yiyang and Yueyang: the catastrophe is flooding.
- The area of Sichuan Basin (Chengdu as center): the main catastrophes are flooding and then earthquake.
- The area of Pearl River Delta (Guangzhou as the center): the main catastrophes are flooding and then typhoon storm and earthquake.
- The plain of Wei River (Xi’an as the center): the catastrophe is earthquake.
- The area of central Yunnan Province (Kunming is the center, including Chuxiong, Yuxi, Qujin and the east of Sichuan): the main catastrophe is violent earthquake.
- The area of Zhangzhou-Xiamen-Quanzhou in the south of Fujian province: the main catastrophes are earthquake, typhoon and storm.
