Burundi (The Republic of Burundi) is located on the south side of the equator in the Middle East of Africa. It borders on Rwanda in the north, Tanzania in the East and south, D.R.Congo in the west, and Tanganyika Lake in the southwest. There are many plateaus and mountains in the territory, most of which are composed of the eastern plateau of the Great Rift Valley, the average altitude of the whole country is 1600 meters, which is known as "mountain country".
In order to improve the business environment and absorb foreign investment, Burundi has actively promoted the construction of the legal system, since 2008 to 2013, investment regulations, commercial regulations, environmental regulations, private enterprises and public participation laws, land laws and mine regulations have been revised.
Burundi is a country of agriculture and animal husbandry. It is one of the world's least developed countries announced by the United Nations. The difficulties in its economic development lie in its small country, large population, poor resources and no access to the sea, 70% of the national income comes from agriculture, but due to the backward agricultural infrastructure, the ability to resist natural disasters is low.
From 2008 to 2014, Burundi's economy maintained a certain growth. From 2008 to 2012, the economic growth rate was 4.9%, 3.8%, 5.1%, 4.2% and 4.2% respectively. GDP per capita is 126 US dollars.
In October 28, 2015, the seventieth UN General Assembly was reelected to the UN Human Rights Council, Burundi was successfully elected from 2016 to 2018.
