The Earth Resources Laboratory (ERL) is MIT’s home for research and education focused on sub-surface energy resources and environmental issues. Through integration across traditional academic disciplines and across departmental and school boundaries, ERL addresses complex questions involving production and injection of fluids into the subsurface and produces tomorrow’s industry and academic leaders.
ERL Headquarters is based in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) within the School of Science at MIT. We work closely with the MIT Energy Initiative, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the Department of Mathematics.
