Introduction
"Since its establishment in 1978, the National Institute of Meteorological Sciences has been devoted to a variety of research activities associated with weather and climate. The scope of our research ranges from forecasting technologies to remote sensing, marine weather, earthquakes, and Asian dust to support the missions of the Korea Meteorological Administration. The NIMS spares no efforts to consistently reform itself into a future-oriented research organization, while leading advanced meteorological studies in liaison with biology, industry, health, weather modification, hydro-meteorology, and green energy (wind and solar power, etc.). New office in Jeju will serve as a good chance for the NIMS to make a new leap forward to be a mecca of meteorological research. We will exert our utmost efforts to become a global top-tier research organization, while leading the development of meteorological technologies. "
