Introduction
Emergency Management Australia (EMA) is the agency responsible for coordinating the Emergency response of the federal government. Its predecessor is the Natural Disasters Organization (NDO) of the federal ministry of defense, which was established in February 1974.In November 2001, the EMA was separated from the ministry of defense and placed under the jurisdiction of the federal department of justice. It has four branches: the department of safety coordination, the department of crisis coordination, the department of crisis support and the department of natural disaster recovery planning.
