Introduction
The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) is an Indian research institution that is responsible for the study of general Indian tropical meteorology, especially the Indian monsoon weather. Its director is Dr. R. Krishnan. In India's third five-year plan, the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology was established on November 17, 1962. It is mainly responsible for: meteorological observations, weather forecasts, and India earthquake detection. Its headquarters are located in Pune, Maharashtra.
