Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau(hereinafter referred to as SMG) has been in service for more than sixty years since its official establishment in 1952.
Macao is located in a region with frequent weather change, often affected by the tropical cyclones, rainstorm and cold surge, etc.
Besides its primary responsibilities of the weather monitoring, analysis and forecast, SMG also issues different kinds of meteorological warnings. In addition, SMG is responsible for the activities relating to aviation meteorology, climate as well as the activities against the climate change.
SMG has been equipped with the air quality monitoring network and atmospheric radiation monitoring network.
For the geophysics, the seismic monitoring station is set up. Furthermore, the services related to geomagnetism, geology and time service are provided.
Being installed in a three-floor building occupying more than 3,000 square meters of the total area, SMG is located in the eastern part of the Grand Taipa Hill. To the west of the main building, you will find a tower of 40m high where the Meteorological Radar is equipped.
