Morocco is located in the northwestern tip of Africa in the Arabian Maghreb, with the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Mediterranean Sea in the north, with a vast land area and a subtropical climate in northwestern Africa, with an average annual rainfall of 800-200 millimeters from the north to the central part of the country, which is very uneven according to the region and the year, and with a relative scarcity of water resources, and droughts in 14 of the 20 years from the 1980s to the 1990s. The average annual rainfall in Morocco is about 150 billion cubic meters, of which 30 billion cubic meters is effective precipitation, and of that effective precipitation, 21 billion cubic meters can be utilized, including 16 billion cubic meters of surface water and 5 billion cubic meters of groundwater.
