Introduction
DELWP brings together Victoria’s planning, local government, environment, energy, suburban development, forests, emergency management, climate change and water functions into a single department to strengthen connections between the environment, community, industry and economy. We manage a variety of emergency events and also support the response to many others. This includes responding to bushfires in forests and parks, wildlife affected by fire, marine pest incursions, stranded or entangled whales and dolphins and dam safety, water supply and wastewater incidents. Emergency management is a shared responsibility and a priority for the Victorian government. We work with the CFA, SES, MFB and Parks Victoria and other emergency management partners to help prepare for, respond to and recover from emergency events. Under the Emergency Management Act 2013, we work together towards a shared vision for safer and more resilient communities.
