The online map of disaster frequency distribution by disaster type in Tibet Autonomous Region in 2014 is from the Atlas of natural disasters in China in 2014, the book is edited by the National Disaster Reduction Commission Office, the Disaster relief Department of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the National Disaster Reduction Center of Ministry of Civil Affairs, and is published by China Map Publishing House. The scale of this map is 1:11600000.

Tibet Autonomous Region

In 2014, the disaster situation in Tibet Autonomous Region was the same as that in recent years, with earthquakes and floods as the main disasters.

1.There are many kinds of disasters with high frequency

Except for typhoon disasters, almost all natural disasters in Tibet occur to varying degrees throughout the year, affected by climate change, Lhasa, Nagqu, Qamdo and other cities (regions) have frequent rainfall and heavy rainfall, with an average rainfall of 23-164 mm. Shannan, Lhasa, Xigaze and other places are 30% to 15 times more than in 2013, the site hit a record high during the same period, causing frequent floods, mudslides and other disasters, in addition, there were 3 earthquakes of magnitude 5 or higher throughout the year.

2.Flood and geological disasters have a wide range of disaster

In flood season, floods, wind and hail, debris flow and other geological disasters occur frequently, and the disaster area is large. 50 counties (districts) suffer from floods and geological disasters, accounting for 68% of the total administrative divisions at the county level in the autonomous region. The disaster caused the destruction of cultivated land, grassland, transportation, water conservancy, communications, schools and other infrastructure damage.
